Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir at First Presbyterian faithfully provides anthems, under the direction of Dr. Michael Davis, for our worship services nearly every Sunday September-May.  The choir rehearses every Thursday evening in the sanctuary starting at 7:00p.m..  They sing a wide variety of music from Classical to Old Hymn tunes and from Gospel to Contemporary.  In addition to weekly service anthems, the choir also performs a cantata, major work such as the Messiah or musical drama/opera taking an entire service at Christmas and again during lent.

 Chancel Ringer's Handbell Choir

The Handbell Choir rehearses each Thursday for about an hour starting 6:00PM in Fellowship Hall.  Having a musical background is helpful but not required.  As long as you know pink from green and your left from right, you can learn to play handbells!  (This is a great place for former band members who no longer play.)  A few substitutes are always needed to fill in occasionally for rehearsals and performances.  This is a good opportunity for people with some musical knowledge and desire to participate, but who don't have the time for weekly practices.  Come and discover your hidden Musical Gifts!

Special Music

There are a variety of ways you/your group can be a part of our Special Music at the First Presbyterian Church.  September-May, you can share your talents during an Offertory, Moment of Reflection or Prelude.  In the summer months we depend on our "Special Music Volunteers" to provide solos in the absence of a weekly choir anthem.  At these services, we sometimes have one person/group provide two pieces, once for special music and one for the Offertory, but, we also often have two different people/groups do one or the other.  So, if you play an instrument, sing with a group or solo, please consider being a part of the Music Ministry!
