Weclome Karla, Matt and Adriana Diuro and Patty Schuler. Read below to find out more about them. Be sure to stop them and introduce yourself!
Matthew and I met at a Hispanic scholarship fundraiser gala at the Scottish Rite downtown in April 2008. He was a friend of a friend and when he asked my friend if he could get my phone number to call, we instantly connected and found out we lived in the same apartment complex!
Matthew and I found out that we had many things in common, his values were aligned with mine and our outlook of life was very much in sync. It is true when people say “when you know, you know” and after only a few months of courtship, we made our life long commitment and we were married on 08/08/2008.
Shortly after, we moved to Fishers in 2009. We looked for a church home and became members of a Presbyterian church in Fishers. A few years later we expanded our family when we gave birth to Adriana Genevieve Diuro.
Adriana is our pride and joy. Her name is very meaningful because each name symbolizes her heritage which is Mexican, Scott Irish and Italian descent. She will be 4 years old in June. Adriana attends both preschool and visits my mother often where she is able to practice her Spanish speaking skills.
After a couple of years of living at our house in Fishers, we moved further north and lost contact with our previous church. We searched for alternate churches and even went church hopping for a few weekends. Yet we were not able to find a church we could call home. We were looking for a traditional church that would have the hymns that I grew up hearing.
We now lived closer to Noblesville and drove downtown on weekends for different festivals and events. We had driven by FPC and I always commented how beautiful the building is and how we should visit some day. I continued to pray that we could find a church home so that our family could be around individuals whom share our faith.
As it turns out we stopped by FPC one Sunday, ready and open to the possibility of this becoming our church home. To my surprise when we walked in I ran into one of my former students and her family. We instantly felt at home! Everyone was interested in getting to know us and gave us a warm welcome. Adriana absolutely loves her Sunday school teachers and looks forward to coming to church on Sundays.
There couldn’t be any more signs that could point us in the direction of becoming members of FPC. We enjoyed having Eric at our home for dinner and found out we have many things in common. Our visit with our pastor gave us a great outlook for what we could be a part of. We very much look forward to getting to know everyone in the congregation and growing with this church family!
